Light the tip of the stick until it catches flame, then blow it out after a few seconds so it smolders and releases fragrant smoke. Wave the stick gently around the space, focusing on corners or areas you wish to refresh. Place the smoldering end in a heatproof dish or bowl of sand when finished and let it extinguish completely.
